See you say about risking breaking the unit yet all the guys that did it first and worked it out took ALL the risks. I've got a pile of stuff in the "backyard store" that didn't go so well the first time. I've driven around for weeks with a stuffed head unit or LHD setup on a RHD car. SIC modules reading wrong, dead screens etc. all these things to find out the way to do things.

But I also met some great people on here and shared my findings with them and theirs with me and we pushed things even further with our combined efforts

Both of the new headunits are working ok in the car now, but I've run into a small problem thats stopped me in my tracks for now
I flashed my spare 2009 HCM with the 2008 Calais DZ bin file on this site, and when the ignition was switched on I was greeted with "Engine immobilized refer to owners manual" That was a tad stressful as I thought I had killed the car !
I reflashed it with the original SZ backup I made, and all was ok again with the Omega headunit. (the fan ran at full speed with the Calais headunit as expected)
It would appear units with a later hardware and software revision are incompatible with code from earlier HCM's. My unit is HW7, SW15.

Would anyone have a DZ .bin file from a 2009 or 2010 HCM they could share so I can confirm ?

The alternative is to reconfigure it with the Tech2 if and when it arrives

Cheers

Here is a link to one of the original SZ and DZ Module dumps.
I am unsure what this is from (Software version or year model), but hopefully it helps you out. :?:

Hi Matti,
Thanks for that - I've done a bit more testing with the other HCM dumps, here's what I got

Dual Zone - 2008 Calais V - A2C53246143.bin - engine immobilized message on DIC
DZ_Climate_Control.bin - normal HVAC display on calais headunit, but no fan, actuators don't move
dual zone HVAC.hex - A/C displayed on headunit, no other display if buttons pushed, no fan
single zone HVAC.hex with Omega headunit - A/C button lights up if pressed, no fan, actuators don't move
flash HCM with original backup (2009_SS.bin) - normal operation, fan & actuators ok

thats what i would get.. everything work but no fan action...

What model HVAC were you playing with ?
They might be like the headunits, with big differences between earlier and later revisions.
Putting an early dump on a late model might be stopping the thing initializing properly

Finally, i have completed my project that i have been working on for the last 6 months.
I have successfully converted my 2009 VE series 1 system to a Holden IQ series 2 system with full DZ control.

I must thank all the contributors of this site as it was very helpful to me.

For those that are interested attached is the EEPROM dump from my Holden IQ.
It is stored on a 24C64 chip.

The VIN reads something like this 93E5KE1G665106LCL from the EEPROM dump.

Its actually stored backwards in 2 parts without the first number of the VIN! Also the L on the end is not part of the VIN too.
So 93E5KE1G 665106LCL <--- This L is not part of the VIN

So the VIN is actually: 6G1EK5E39CL601566 but was programmed in to the radio as above.

If anyone one has more info about deciphering the Holden IQ EEPROM then please let me know.
Such as VIM, startup logo, reverse input etc.

Maybe the Holden IQ stuff should be on a new thread???
