Yes and No I wont give it out. Put some time in and find it yourself. Or do what some others do on here and copy the information and then start selling it on eBay for a cost and no credit to the original person who actually put in the time to find the information

One post on this forum and not a single bit of shared information and you PM again and again for the location of the VIM speed limiter. I won't give it out, I won't sell it and I won't tell you if it's the right location, just bloody try it like everyone else. I've hinted enough in this thread and other at its location. Enough to 1/2 the time and more to is location

Have a break from the forum for a week (ban). Spend it playing with your head unit. Come back and share some information that HASN'T been posted up or written up in the DIY. maybe even something simple like some of the locations of the presets, LHD or RHD settings, Speed volume level etc. lots of things to find that haven't been posted.

ZeroOne might be forth coming with everything but if you give a little others including myself with share some more info too.

This forum has quite a few levels and the more you share and the "deeper down the rabbits hole" you get into hacking these things the more access you will get :)

Harassing other contributing members via PM or email WILL NOT BE tolerated. Consider a week ban a small warning. The next person will get a month straight up.

The next post I see with any words resembling "what are the VIM locations" or "has any one worked out the VIM locations" gets banned. You work it out and you wanna post it up then great.

Hi all,
The warranty on my MY10 International runs out at the end of January, so the time has come to start fiddling with things :P
First thing to change is the L1 headunit - I've bought a colour unit off ebay, which I'm told is from a GTS, although the back of the fascia suggests otherwise?

powering it up on the bench only gives the security lockout message, so I'll need to wait for my KEEprog and clip to arrive to go any further.
I also intend to do the whole dual zone conversion thing as msenj did, and just picked up a Berlina triple display cluster (black back) to play with
Should keep me busy over Xmas for awhile !

the back of the display is fine... GTS's were based of a calais so the level 3/4 radio is correct...

I've received the 3M clip from the UK, but am starting to think the keeprog has been lost somewhere in the Bulgarian postal system...
In the meantime, I've got hold of a 2010 Calais headunit at a price I couldn't pass up

The markings on this one are different to the other one - I wonder if 'RVC IRC' refers to the reverse camera option, and if it will display the guidelines and PLEASE CHECK YOUR SURROUNDINGS' message when reverse is selected ? There is no software version marked on the unit front or main board, but the video board has G8_v9.06 on the flash chip

I also got this lot from a wrecked SS ute

I'll reflash the HCM to dual zone, rather than mess around with my original one
Just need the sensors and the fun begins

without being rude.. try going back to the start and reading... instead of just hoping everyone will come running and hand you all the information.....

Hi msze1988,

You do not need to desolder the EEPROM from the board for the Holden VE headunit.
Have a look at this doco
doc-holden-commodore-ve-eeprom-programming-for-beginners-d69m19.html

At the bottom of the document, it shows how to use a 3M clip to physically connect to the EEPROM on the board.
I highly recommend that you use a 3M clip, otherwise you will need to desolder the EEPROM, and you will also need a SOP socket adaptor to plug the EEPROM in.

As for your EEPROM programmer, because EVERY EEPROM programmer is different, and because there are literally thousands upon thousands of EEPROM programmers out there,
and each one may or may not use different software, its going to be very difficult to try and help with your specific EEPROM model.

Have a good read of the above document.
Once you have had a good read (and I mean dont skim through and look at the pictures, take your time, and try to understand what is described in the document), have a look at this document.
doc-holden-commodore-ve-programming-the-colour-lcd-hvac-radio-d62m19.html

This shows what is required to modify the EEPROM for a VE Commodore.
(Keep in mind if you are playing around with another make / model, then things will be completely different)...

If you can post up exactly where you are stuck then that will help a lot as well.
Questions that you will need to answer would be
1) Does your EEPROM software work with your EEPROM programmer ?
2) How are you connecting to the EEPROM now ?
3) Can you read any data from the EEPROM ?
4) Is the EEPROM programmer software giving you any errors ?
5) Post up a screen shot of the software, or any photos of what you have now if you can.

The more information you can post up, the more we can try and help you.
Also keep in mind that messing around with EEPROMs can be very very difficult the first time you start playing around.
Also, if you do not have some electronics or micro controller or low level programming background, this is probably going to be a steep learning curve.
But that doesnt mean that it will be impossible, or not rewarding if you are willing to persist.

I hope this helps
