4L60E NO 3/4 GEAR PROBLEM

Hi guys/girl. My mate just picked up a VXII 5.7 auto (4l60E) on his way home from Sydney the auto just dropped 3/4 gear. No slippage but has engage twice since but only holds for about 30 seconds then lets go again but it has not picked the gears up since. Any one know of any common problems along this line? I was thinking a cracked solenoid. OOOrrrr is there any ECU or harness issues common to this problem that you'se know of? Thanks & cheers

The verdict: took the pan off & was normal, clean fluid filter etc. Pulled solenoids & tested them all worked fine & no cracks. Took it to a trans shop & re-flashed the ECU & now it runs like a dream. Two other shops said it's a full rebuild, but there was no evidence at all regarding burnt/worn clutch pack & no debris at all. The fact it was working perfect when the car was turned off, then after restarting it the problem occurred made me sure for certain it was electrical. All fixed by a re-flash.
