Tech 2 RS-232 adpater pinout

Discuss Diagnostic Trouble Codes and Parameter IDs for the Holden VE Commodore, VEII Series Commodores, and HSV E1, E2, and E3 models

Postby radrace19 » Wed Mar 06, 2013 8:48 am

Looking to update a friends Tech 2, but he doesn't have the DB9 to RJ-45 adapter and cable.
Does anyone know if the cable is a crossover cable or a standard patch cable?
Does anyone have the pinouts for the adapter?

Thanks,
Greg

Actually I found this pinout:

DB9 pin 1 = RJ45 pin 2
DB9 pin 2 = RJ45 pin 4
DB9 pin 3 = RJ45 pin 5
DB9 pin 4 = RJ45 pin 8
DB9 pin 5 = RJ45 pin 7
DB9 pin 6 = RJ45 pin 1
DB9 pin 7 = RJ45 pin 3
DB9 pin 8 = RJ45 pin 6
DB9 pin 9 = NOT USED

I wired a DB9 connector up to a RJ45 port. It did not work with a straight cable so I used a crossover cable and it is now updating.

its a straight cable... it normally plugs into a rj45 to db9 adapter... in there is the crossover you are experiencing

but the cable is straight through :)

Thanks.
I ended up changing up my adapter wires to use a standard patch cable instead of having to dig for a crossover cable weeks ago.

I just never updated my chart.
