Circuit / System Description
A chip within the ignition key contains a transponder code in which the BCM is programmed to recognize. When the key is inserted into the ignition, the transponder code is read wirelessly by BCM. If the transponder code matches the code programmed within the BCM and serial data message is sent to the ECM which will allow the vehicle to start.
