Circuit / System Description
At the windshield wiper/washer, circuit terminal?4 splits into two circuits, a control circuit going to the windshield washer pump and a signal circuit going to the BCM. The BCM monitors the windshield washer signal circuit, when the windshield washer switch is open, signal circuit voltage will be at or near 0 volts. When windshield washer switch is closed, ignition voltage will flow through the control/signal circuit to the windshield washer pump and to the BCM. The BCM will detect the ignition voltage in the signal circuit and will then command the windshield wipers to function on low for as long as there is ignition voltage on the signal circuit. When the windshield washer switch is open, the voltage on the signal circuit drops to less than 1V and the BCM will then command the windshield wiper to function for 2 more cycles then command the windshield wipers to park.
